Why is it important to get involved and make a difference in high school?

High school is the best place to prepare for the world beyond! In high school, there is support and a myriad of resources to help students achieve their goals, so getting involved and using these opportunities to help others allows students to grow into empathetic, resourceful, and successful individuals.

Who is a mentor or role model who inspire you & why?

Ms. Mullahy is the first person that comes to mind as a role model because she was such a fierce person. She brought this ferocity to all her endeavors, making her kindness, humor, and personality unmatched. I hope that I am able to become unapologetic about who I am as she was, and use this confidence to change the world for good.

If you knew me better you’d know I…

enjoy crafting in my free time - particularly painting, drawing, and making custom clay earrings. 🙂

What are your dreams for your future?

I aspire to go to college on the East Coast and study Biomedical Engineering! Ultimately, I want to have a career where I can work in lab research and develop medical treatments/cures for autoimmune diseases.

What is the bravest thing you have ever done?

The bravest thing I have ever done has been persisting in the ongoing journey of loving myself in the face of significant health challenges. I have Celiac Disease, which is an autoimmune condition that affects most aspects of my life in one way or another. Learning how to value myself after my diagnosis has certainly been challenging, but the courage it has taken to persevere through the pain and anger has made me a strong, more compassionate person. I would not have gotten here without having the bravery to accept myself for every aspect of who I am.

What do you love about Flowing Wells?

I love the community in Flowing Wells. No matter what challenges myself and other students encounter, our peers and teachers are looking out for us and providing whatever support hey can to help us become more successful and to ensure that we feel loved and values every step of the way.

Who has been the most influential teacher in your career and why?

My AP US History teacher, Ms. Smith, has been the most influential in my career because she is endlessly loving. She is the sort of person that makes everyone feel seen through her compassion, wisdom, and humor. She has been there for me through some of the most difficult moments of my life, and her unwavering belief in me has meant more than I can say.

How long have you attended Flowing Wells?

I have gone to Flowing Wells from kindergarten onwards!

What legacy do you want to leave here at Flowing Wells?

I want my legacy to be one of kindness and love. I have a firm belief that character and relationships are far more meaningful than any quantifiable award or achievement, and I hope to be remembered as a person who was kind, a person available to listen, offer advice and comfort, and recognize each person for their own unique self! My wonderful peers here have shaped me into the person I am today, so I sincerely hope that I have been able to convey to them how special they are and how much worth they have just by being here.
