Ryan Carrasco - Student Body President

LEADING LADIES OF FWHS—RYAN CARRASCO, SENIOR

March is Women’s History Month and we are closing out the month by shining a light on some fantastic FWHS female leaders who make a positive impact on campus.

Extra-curricular involvement & leadership positions:

·         STUDENT COUNCIL: Student Body President

·         CHORALAIRES: Section Leader

·         LINK CREW: Member

·         Will appear in the upcoming musical, Anastasia

Why is it important to get involved and make a difference in high school?

In high school, it can feel like you don’t fit in with the other students. I wanted to be able to make my peers feel like they have a voice and belonged. Joining Student Council has helped me feel more confident in myself and that helped me make new friends and be able to be there for someone when they need it the most.

Who is a mentor or role model who inspire you & why?

My old choir teacher back in junior high, Mr. Snook. He helped me be the person I am today, strong, confident, caring, and to be the best person I can be, not only for myself, but also for others around me. I will never forget the musical and personal impact he had on me.

If you knew me better you’d know I…

I love to go to Dutch Bros and hang out with my friends. I also love, love, love to sing and watch movies. My favorite movies are Marvel ones.

What are your dreams for your future?

I plan to go to NAU to attend the School of Music to become a Choir Educator so that I can also bring the joy of music and life to kids, just as Mr. Snook did to me.

What is the bravest thing you have ever done?

The bravest thing I’ve ever done was being able to put myself out there in front of over 1,000 students when joining Student Council. I call myself an extrovert but I definitely get nervous being in front of big crowds.

What do you love about Flowing Wells?

I love our teachers and the people who go here. The community we all have built for each other is a second home for me. It is definitely nice to have teachers who you can call a friend.

Who has been the most influential teacher in your career and why?

Mr. Mann has made a huge impact in my career here at FWHS. He doesn’t only teach us history lessons freshman year, but he definitely helps build you up for success in the real world. I don’t think I would have used a lot of social skills I do now if it wasn’t for him. His kind words and wisdom impact me and everyone he meets.

How long have you attended Flowing Wells?

I have attended Flowing Wells since I was a 3rd grader at Richardson Elementary.

What legacy do you want to leave here at Flowing Wells?

I want to be able to have set a good example for my peers. To show them not to be afraid to be themselves and to have fun and enjoy high school as much as you can. Having a good character goes a long way, and you may not see it now, but you always make an impact on someone’s life and I want to be able to do the same but for good reasons. I care deeply about everyone I meet.
